Sandals, jute bags and felt sweaters were clichés of an »eco« yesterday. Today eco has become hip, because since »Fridays For Future« it is cool to take care of the climate. For some it is a meaningful lifestyle element, for heat 11 GmbH & Co. KG it is even one of the most important components of the company’s DNA and its own motivation.
That is why heat 11 GmbH & Co. KG followed its responsibility and its passion entirely selfless and out of pure conviction and can proudly report today on the completion of the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the production hall heat 11 manufacture in Loehne.
At »heat 11 manufacture« photovoltaic elements with an output of 160 kW peak were installed. Per kWp of installed capacity, the plant generates approximately 800-950 kWh of electricity per year. If one calculates with 800 kWh generated electricity per year conservatively due to some rainy days in Ostwestfalen-Lippe, this results in an annual electricity production of 160 kWp x 800 kWh = 128,000 kWh for the 160 kW peak installed on the heat 11 hall.
160 kW peak
800-950 kWh/year
128.000 kWh
After heat 11 GmbH & Co. KG switched to resource-saving LED lighting in 2018, the production’s own electricity consumption amounts to only around 30,000 kWh per year. This means that the system generates almost the fourfold of its own electricity consumption. Or in other words: 75 %of the generated green electricity can also be supplied to other customers!
With an average electricity consumption of a 4-person household of some 3,500 kWh per year, the plant can supply about 36 households with electricity. And even after deduction of the own consumption still amount to 30!
The German »electricity mix« (nuclear energy, fossil-fired power plants and regenerative energies) must be based on CO2 emissions of 0.510 kg per kWh of electricity. The photovoltaic system installed on the heat 11 roof thus makes it possible to avoid 128,000 kWh x 0.51 kg = 652,800 kg = 652 tons of CO2 per year.
This represents a further step towards the ecologization and sustainability of the production in Loehne, where construction is currently being resumed on plants that will be used in large solar thermal power plants in order to generate even significantly more regenerative energy thereand to save tons of CO2 to an even greater extent. Thus heat 11 GmbH & Co. KG consistently continues its mission »GoGreen«.
