Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese: Hardly anyone who is not familiar with this name. Cakes and bread rolls are among the best-known products of the company, which has belonged to the Bielefeld-based Oetker Group since 2015. As a result of this affiliation, the international business was significantly expanded within a short period of time and has now been expanded by a further production facility at the Mettingen site (Osnabrück area).
One component of the investment totalling 80 million euros was the energy center for heating the new baking lines (see illustration). In a first step, the thermal oil plant was equipped with two natural gas-fired heat 11 heaters with a heating capacity of 1,600 kW each: The customer’s main requirement was to ensure high energy efficiency while at the same time complying with future, stricter exhaust emission limits, especially with regard to nitrogen oxide emissions.
Two of a total of six new production lines are now in operation and produce sheet cakes and wheat rolls. The next step is to put the third line into operation in 2019.
Coppenrath & Wiese is optimally equipped to meet the additional energy requirements: The heat 11 thermal oil plant was already prepared during the planning phase for the expansion by a further boiler.
